$$$$$$

Okay... I'm getting over the shock of spending $100 to ship Colin's contact lenses to the Netherlands. BUT, now I'm finding out that they couldn't be delivered on the first try BECAUSE
he didn't have the 40 euros (almost $60) to pay the UPS guys for taxes and duties of shipping goods into the Netherlands! That's right, he had to pay an additional $60 I didn't know about to receive the package! Yes, he has it now at least.
Anyone care to venture how much it would have cost to ship his saxes there???

  1. For this kind of money he could have bought some lenses in Groningen. When I send items to Holland I use the US mail, lots cheaper and gets there just as fast as by UPS.

  2. You're right of course Hetty. We used UPS because we wanted to track the package... but we learned our lesson the hard way. Do you also pay duty on packages through the mail. I'm guessing that you do!

  3. No you dont. You either state it is a gift or in case of the lenses it was an item he needed and was used. You can also track their shipment on line and the insurance cost is minimal. The lenses would have gotten there probably within 4 to 5 days.
